Grace; Mis-Understood To Date – 2020 AD

Hello Audience! Welcome to Return To God Forum TV program: This is Episode 1 of the ROOT Series – Named: “Know the truth and enter by the door before He is shut.” Jesus made the search for the door easy when He declared in (John 10:9): “I am the door, if anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, & will go in & out and find pasture.” This door has remained wide open since 33AD and no one can shut it. But when it shall be shut, which could any time, no one can open it. There has been ample opportunity to enter it. The more one delays the more the regret later. But do you know that not knowing the truth will prevent entry by the door? Moreover, do you know “grace is misunderstood till now?” So knowledge of the truth is key to avoid denial by Christ who scripture forecast might say in (Mt. 7:23): “I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” This raises serious concern. All the good labor one may think he is doing by giving, caring for the needy, praise and worship, and preaching to crowds of congregation and etcetera can be in vain if not underlined by knowledge and practice of the truth.

My Name: Dr. Danson Ubebe; Teacher and Author.

Topic. Our topic for today is: How God interpreted grace.

Objective: To equip you with revelation knowledge of “what you don’t know about grace”.

The prevailing interpretation of grace is either Christ, or divine power, or unmerited/unearned/undeserved favor, etc. But without a trail of biblical proof, they at best suggest guesswork. Natural man cannot interpret scripture correctly. The word of God is spirit (John 6:63). Moreover the scripture was written for spirit beings by men inspired by God as suggested in (2Cor. 5:16): “Therefore from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.” Only God can reveal His truth through His word and His Spirit. From God comes the knowledge of the truth to Christ who always imitates Him {(John 5:19, 30). Then it flows from Christ by the Holy Spirit to whoever imitates Him too. (1Pet. 2:21). With the above background let’s examine the issue of grace.

Do you know grace and favor belong to different categories of gifts? In Eden, God told Adam not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil; else he would die (Gen. 2:17). But he failed to guide his home. It allowed the serpent to deceive the woman as suggested in (Gen. 3:6): “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took off its fruit and ate. She also gave her husband with her, and he ate.” So Adam died instantly as God decreed earlier. It changed the nature of Adam from that of God to that of sin. Then Adam acted like a snake shedding its skin. His spirit & internal organs detached from the glory of God which previously covered him. Then tiptoed out naked, short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). This nakedness is what scripture means by man is born naked and equally returns to after world naked (Job 1:21). The proverb has nothing to do with the wealth of the world. On earth, the veil of the temple between man & the statue of God at the ark of Testimony symbolized the separation (Ex. 26:33).

So in general sin separated Adam totally (spiritually and physically) from God (Is. 59:2-3). Certainly, it could not have been otherwise. It was after this death that God cursed Adam. Part of it was to return to the ground from where he was made in the beginning. So death on earth is the fulfilment of the curse and not of the death of sin.

It was for this reason God showed mercy on Enoch and took him away without mortal death (Gen.5:23, 24). Prophet Elijah enjoyed the same mercy (2King 2:11). But the mercy was not enough to forgive the sin of death of separation which only Jesus came to fulfill.

From that moment in Eden man merited only death (Ezek. 18: 20-24).

So every gifts from God has beenunmerited (Rom. 3:23-25), as (Rom. 6:23) also suggests: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The eternal gift of God is what is known as grace. It is only God who gives the gift of grace. But favor is given by God & men (Lk. 2:52). This shows grace and favor belong to different categories of gifts. Therefore, there is no justification to link grace to favor or to single out the gift of grace as unmerited favor, even when every gift is unmerited. So what is grace?

Listing uniqueness of grace. Grace (and truth) came through Jesus (John 1:17). Moreover grace is central to the cross of Jesus. It stimulated Paul to declare in (Gal. 6:14): “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Moreover, grace is central to the gospel of Jesus crucified for it is the drive of its purpose, which is to save and finally redeem man (1Cor.2:2).

Jesus was crucified for our offences. As He died, mysteries unveiled as shown in (Mt. 27:51): “Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn into two from top to bottom.” It signaled the removal of the wall of sin which previously separated man from God. The shed blood of Jesus on the cross formed the odd door in our heartsUpon His resurrection for our justification, the truth opened the odd door in our hearts to the presence of God, as shown in (2Cor. 4:6): Then God who (in the beginning) commanded light to shine out of darkness shown in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of JesusThis reset the kingdom of God within man, (Lk. 17:21). So, now, believers beholding the glory of the Lord through the word are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord, (2Cor. 3:18).

It paved the way for the Spirit to give gifts to man, (1Corithians 12:1-4).

In particular was for the gift of the Spirit of glory & of God (Hereafter called “The Spirit”) to rest upon man. It inspired in (Heb. 10: 19-20): “Therefore, brethren, having the boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.”

To show the significance of “The Spirit” rests upon man God declared in (1Pet. 4:14): “If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God (The Spirit) rest upon you.

On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.” Anyhow, the carnal mind cannot perceive of the things of the Spirit. Also, a natural man cannot receive the things of God, for they are foolish to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1Cor. 2:14).

But with the Spirit of God he can appreciate the eternal gift of the Spirit. To reveal the purpose of the interplay between “The Spirit” & Paul God told him in (2Cor. 12:9)“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” It made Paul realize his perseverance was because of the grace God gave to help him bear pain of the thorn in his flesh for the sake of Jesus’ name (Heb. 4:16). Thus grace is what helps man stick to hope for eternal and abounding godliness in Christ (1Tim. 1:12-17). Wow!

Furthermore, grace relates to Christ who is God (John 1:1) and also the brightness of the glory of God (Heb. 1:3). So “The Spirit” is the Spirit of Jesus. Thus it’s the Spirit of Jesus which produces grace which God gives to manwho abides in Christ. It portrays the blessings of the Spirit of Jesus as the face of grace in ChristTherefore scripture declared in (Rom. 8:34): Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” This affirms “grace is intercession by Christ.” The woman with the issue of blood is a handy testimony. When she was healed, power left Jesus instantly. It suggests it was Jesus who Mediated for her (Luke 8:46). Grace manifests by reason of many forms of divine arsenal from blessings of the Spirit of Christ Jesus – power, wisdom, inexplicable arsenal that provides protection from anything beyond human ability, etc.

Wrong interpretation of grace. If you get grace wrong, the knowledge of the gospel of salvation will be wrong. It leads to lawlessness such as: love of the world & things in the world (1John 2:16), preaching of fables unrelated to the cross, etc.

Riddle of grace. Salvation of man began in the Spirit by grace through faith, (Eph. 2:8). Now we are being made perfect in the Spirit by grace through faith and not by the flesh, (Gal. 3:3). This is the thrust of the sacrifice of Jesus in (Rom. 3:25), Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.” It suggests once you believe in Jesus abide in Him in words and actions (Lk. 9:62). So every scripture which assures of salvation must be read in line with the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus and not in isolation of it. Only by doing so will ensure consistency throughout scripture. Example: “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more (Heb. 8:12).” This mercy refers to only previous sins and deeds before the cross of Jesus.

By comparison, the spirit of believers draws similarity to Adam’s spirit in Eden when he was created. Then God commanded him not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, else he would die (Gen. 2:17). Likewise God has now charged believers to pile up treasures in heaven and not on earth (Matt 6:19-21) and to flee evil (Gal. 5:19-21), else he would die too – this is the 2nd death (Rev. 21:8). This suggests why propitiation of Jesus saved man from only the previous sins (Rom. 3:25).
