THE CASE OF GRACE
To this day every person who believes that God is, hungers and thirsts (for truth) and is poorly clothed in this terrestrial earth (1 Corinthians. 4:11). To hunger and thirst in this case is to correspondingly follow and believe in Jesus Christ (John 6:35). The deficiencies listed before will only be satisfied by finding Jesus Christ. Amidst the contents of the book; Doomed Christianity and Unshakable Lifeline, grace is the pathfinder that can lead a person to Jesus Christ. Without the help of grace of God there is no hope for anyone. In the absence of grace the doubtless end for every person would have been condemnation (Daniel 12:2b).
Every person is born on earth dead as all persons living and mortally dead were in the loins of Adam when he died for disobeying God in the garden of Eden (Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6-8). After which God drove him out (Genesis 3:24) naked and, as well as deep darkness to this terrestrial earth of darkness (Isaiah 60:2). Therefore to come out of darkness it is absolutely desirable for man to seek to be the light of God – the only panacea. But man cannot find the indefinable light without first knowing and understanding the perspective of God concerning grace – the radar device and gift of God.
Today, grace is severally interpreted. The most popular is that grace is un-merited favor. Other less popular are that grace is Christ Jesus, or Spirit, or power and so on. Without concrete evidence it would suggest that all of these descriptions of grace are mere conjectures of man. Certainly none of them clearly captures what grace of God is.
Objective. The purpose of this blog is to clear the air and to give the biblical meaning of grace by using scripture to interpret scripture. This revelation knowledge is the first since the advent of the Holy Bible.
Scripture admonished believers to see biblical things from one perspective. The grace as proven below is the absolute truth by reason of the source. God is one and not the author of confusion. He will not give multiple interpretations to His word written for our learning. This suggest every believer ought to read the scripture with the same understanding of any specific biblical word of phrase or message. So the sole truth of grace of God is one.
Renewing the mind. It is necessary to first purge the mind of old beliefs if it is to be renewed. However observation of believers over a period of time has shown that many of them are unbending to change. Not even proof with scripture can make them accept truth shown to them. It is a common attitude in Christianity. People prefer to remain stuck with old beliefs which local church ministers have preached to them. This suggest that people pay lips service to the scripture. Notwithstanding Jesus cannot be found unless by way of truth. It requires willingness to give up old beliefs not authenticated clearly by scripture and to accept new revelations by scripture itself. Apostle Paul is our example of change of mind when he discarded old beliefs for the authentic new (Philippians 3:7-11).
If what grace is known to be is not in agreement with interpretation by scripture it is wrong. As a result subsequent knowledge about salvation by grace through faith will be incorrect or wrong. It is only scripture that interprets scripture to give knowledge of truth which is absolutely required to find Jesus, who is truth (John 14:6). In the new covenant it is Jesus according to the Spirit that must be found (2 Corinthians 5:16). It makes the gospel of the cross of Jesus Christ crucified the new focus (Galatians. 6:14). If what you hear grace to be is not as interpreted by scripture, it is the opinion of man.
What grace is not? Finding Jesus begins with knowledge of biblical reading of grace which came through Him (John 1:17). To understand grace requires a revisit to the sin Adam committed in Eden. The sin of Adam separated him from God totally (Isaiah 59:2). Spiritually the link of his spirit to that of God was cut off. Externally the glory of God which had robbed him departed and from then he fell short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). From that moment onward, the only thing he merited from God was death which he chose in Eden for disobeying the command not to eat the fruit of tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6-8)). Under the law God re-echoed the death penalty through the prophet Jeremiah to Israel (Jeremiah 15:1-4).
Under the law the separation of man from God was simulated by the veil of the temple (Exodus 26:33). So sinful man does not merit any gift from God (2 Timothy. 1:9). Even under the new covenant man is only able to do things to please God by the gift of His grace. The significance of this is that all gifts from God are unmerited. Be it: favor, every form of blessing, and last the gift of grace. It suggest that to single out the gift of grace as un-merited or un-deserved favor is deception of monumental order. It is undoubtedly the opinion of man and not God.
The substance of grace. Grace is tied to Christ Jesus as it came through Him. To get the answer to what grace is it requires a revisit to the events at the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross: When He died the veil of the temple which had symbolized the separation of man from God in the Holy of Holies tore from top to bottom (Matthew. 27:51). With the removal of the veil, the sin which man had committed and had separated him from God was concurrently removed.
So by the propitiation of Jesus God forgave man the sins he committed previously (Romans 3:25) – This important fact is often sidelined by pastors and the like who proclaim that by the sacrifice of Jesus God forgave man the sins of all times – past, present and future. How misleading! Be guided by scripture like Berean Christians who declined to accept what is preached until confirmed by scripture. The aftermath of the forgiveness of sin was the exposure of man to the influence of heavenly reign.
What followed the forgiveness: God who commanded light to shine out of darkness shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians. 4:6). This reestablished the kingdom of God which Jesus said was within man Christ (Luke. 17:21). Then the floodgate was opened to various spiritual instruments of governance in heaven for the Spirit to give gifts to man (1 Corinthians 12:1-4). Going forward man began to receive the benefit of the gifts of God through the person of the heart (1 Peter 3:4). One of the gifts is by the Spirit of glory and of God.
Dawn of grace to man. From the moment man was exposed to divine reign onward if a man is reproached for the sake of the name of Jesus (or righteousness) he is blessed for the Spirit of glory and of God rest upon him (1 Peter 4:14). But most often the man by faith ascribe the reason for his survival of the reproach to grace of God. Incidentally God validated the statement of the earthly man when He told Apostle Paul buffeted by thorn in his flesh that His grace was sufficient for him (2 Corinthians. 12:9). When the view of man is balanced against the meddling of the Spirit with the inner man it turns out that grace is equal to the effect of the Spirit of glory and of God upon man.
How grace relates to Christ Jesus. Jesus is the brightness of the glory of God (Hebrews 1:3) and He is equally God (John 1:1). Thus the Spirit of glory and of God is the Spirit of Christ Jesus. This is the clear assertion that grace is the effect of Spirit of Christ Jesus who reigns in heaven upon man. It suggest grace is the result of the Mediation of Jesus Christ, our Mediator, on behalf of man. In conclusion therefore, grace is the intercession of Christ for man. The significance of the new revelation knowledge is that it changes the age long narrative of the gift of grace as un-merited favor to focus of every believer on Jesus Christ in him or her. It is indeed a game changer to grab firmly now.
Differences between grace and favor. Grace is unique to Christ as it came through Him and proven above. So it is a Spirit. Whereas favor is a thing of the flesh exemplified by Jesus who received favor from both God and man (Luke 2:52).
My plea if you truly desire salvation of your soul? By this release you have seen and heard what grace is; in truth. The choice to accept and believe it or not is yours. However be circumspect not to brush it aside and remain stuck to unbelief, or ego or pride or ministry title or self-righteousness. As a disciple of Jesus Christ always seek biblical knowledge (Malachi 2:7) different from knowledge of worldly curriculum.
